'I Was Shy' - Note Card & Story by Ojibwa Artist Nokomis

Regular price $5.00CAD

I used to be shy.

I was the only Ojibwa child in a one-room school house 200 miles north of Lake Superior.  I was going to sing at the Christmas concert and was very excited.

With new red ribbons in my hair I bounced along the path towards town, when suddenly, from across the lake, I saw the lights of the village and reality struck.

I was suddenly shy.  I sobbed.

But Dad told me I was such a good singer that everybody would clap.

They did and . . .

I haven't been shy since.

But all this happened eighty years ago.  I'm old.  Grab the cards while you can!
